Privacy policy
The short version
Cento is a reading tracker, not a data business. You can walk the whole hundred-book path, earn points, and keep your journal without ever creating an account — in that case nothing leaves your phone. An account exists for exactly one feature: the Circle, a small private leaderboard with people you invite. There are no ads, no trackers, no analytics SDKs, and we never sell data to anyone.
What stays on your device
- Your reflections and journal — every note you write about a book is stored only on your phone. Reflections are never uploaded.
- Your preferences — layout choices, whether the letter shows at launch, and similar settings.
If you delete the app, this on-device data is deleted with it.
What we store if you join a Circle
Signing in creates an account with our backend provider (Supabase). We store:
- Your email address and password — for sign-in and account recovery. Passwords are hashed; we never see them.
- A display name — whatever you choose to show your circle.
- Reading progress — which books you've marked started or finished and when, so the leaderboard can compute points.
- Circle membership — which circles you belong to.
Progress and points are visible only to members of circles you join — there is no public feed and no way for strangers to find you.
The website
If you request an invite on getcento.app, we store the email address (and the name, if you choose to give one) that you submit, so we can send the invitation. Nothing else — the site sets no analytics or advertising cookies.
Deleting your account
In the app: Circle tab → Account → Delete account. This permanently removes your account, profile, progress events, and circle memberships from our servers. Your on-device journal is untouched — it was never ours to hold.
Third parties
Two, both infrastructure: Supabase hosts the account database, and Resend delivers account emails (confirmation, password recovery). Book pages link out to external sites — bookshops and summary services — which have their own privacy policies once you leave the app.
Children
Cento is rated 12+ and is made for readers of all ages walking a serious reading list. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13; accounts are optional and never required to read.
